Fun facts about Spider Lake
Spider Lake (and other nearby lakes) is a ‘kettle lake’ that was formed by glaciers.
Spider Lake has no true inlet. It is fed by underwater springs, precipitation, and runoff. There is one very small outlet at the end of Deep Cove.
Spider Lake is 445 acres with ~11.5 miles of shoreline.
It has 5 islands; 2 of the islands are private and 3 are public, owned by the Huron-Manistee National Forests. Dogs are not allowed on the public islands.
The depth varies throughout the lake, with a maximum depth of ~38 ft in Deep Cove. About 75% of the lake is considered shallow.
Spider Lake has 464 parcels, including residences, resorts, long and short-term rentals, and a few undeveloped lots.
According to a 2015 DNR fisheries report, the most prevalent fish species in Spider Lake are Bluegill, Rock Bass, Largemouth Bass, Pumpkinseed, and Northern Pike.
