Cooperative Lakes Monitoring Program (CLMP) Testing
Secchi transparency 16 readings - range 22.5-8.6 feet - aver. 13.5 feet
Summer and Spring Total Phosphorus 5.0 ppb
Carlson TSI - Average Trophic Score Index - 36
Overall stable for last few years but secchi transparency trending down (worse)
Spider Lake is between Oligotrophic and Mesotrophic
Exotic aquatic invasives - surveyed at Boat Launch Bay and multiple transected sites - see map; none detected---YET
With an average TSI score of 36 based on 2023 summer total phosphorus and chlorophyll data, this lake is rated between the oligotrophic and mesotrophic lake classification. The lake leans slightly more oligotrophic than mesotrophic.
The lake keeps some dissolved oxygen in the bottom waters through early summer, but by mid-summer the lake has stratified and the bottom water is devoid of oxygen.
Long term trends indicate that the trophic status parameters have not changed beyond minor year-to-year variation since monitoring began.
