Camp Greilick Updates

As of yesterday, there is new information regarding Camp Greilick available for us and the general public at the GT County website. Please take time to read this update critically and thoughtfully. There are varying perspectives regarding the development of the property as we well know.

The SLPOA Board has decided at a recent special meeting of the board, where we listened to and discussed a presentation by Josh Sloat, to not to take a position either pro or con on whether or not the then-existing plans ought to be accepted by the GT Parks and Recreation Commission and then by our township Planning Commission.

The three main sticking points continued to be:

  1. Events

  2. Alcohol use

  3. Amplified sound

As the update indicates, scroll along the way to the bottom and click on the most current "Operations and Management Plan". As a result of the recent "Study Session" held by the GT County Parks and Recreation Commission, it contains significant changes/clarifications to the previous plan. Without retyping their words in this message, please go the new document, carefully read the changes and the sections that apply so you are informed and are able to make your own wise decision.

Upcoming Meetings

In addition, regarding Camp Greilick development, please mark your calendars for the GT County Parks and Recreation Commission meeting to be held on Thursday, August 14th at 5:30 pm in the Governmental Center.

The newest version of the plans for the park will most likely be voted on at this meeting. Depending on its passing, the next step will be to go before our township Planning Commission.

Your presence matters, regardless of your opinion on the proposed plans. There will be opportunities for Public Comment, with 3 minutes allowed per speaker.

Make your plans now to attend this important meeting!

Linda Deneen

Board Director and Chair of the Parks and Roads Committee
